Dear Church Family,
I want to share information with you regarding issues we are or will be facing very soon.
In this letter:
· Winter challenges
· Increasing covid numbers
· Vaccine
· Sunday laws
Winter Challenges
As covid numbers ramp up, we’re seeing increased restrictions. This time round, however, government leaders seem more reluctant to implement full lockdown measures with closures of schools and businesses, but these are likely to happen sooner or later.
Social unrest is an on-going concern. Especially troubling was talk of a four-day trucker strike in the US that would have wreaked widespread havoc. Thankfully, the strike, planned for American Thanksgiving weekend, has been called off by organizers. The Holy Spirit is at work still, convicting and convincing. Pray that compassion and clear-thinking will prevail among the truckers and they’ll leave off pursuit of this ill-advised endeavour.
Klaus Schwab, founder of the World Economic Forum has speculated about a cyber attack and resulting massive disruptions to the power grid, hospital services and society as a whole. For context, it was the World Economic Forum and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that hosted Event 201 on October 18, 2019, in which participants discussed preparedness for a severe pandemic. How would prolonged power outages this winter affect you and your loved ones?
Rising Covid Cases
Some think that volunteering to get a covid test is somehow beneficial. Before deciding to get tested, consider the controversy around the testing.
Back in May, Dr. Alex Wong, a specialist in infectious diseases at Regina, cited “limitations in testing accuracy”[i] as a reason why healthy people should not voluntarily go for testing.[ii] A member of Ontario’s provincial parliament, Randy Hillier, brought up similar concerns in Question Period September 30[iii].
These concerns are based on the process of PCR. Here’s a short video showing how PCR testing works. MPP Randy Hillier’s comments make it clear that patient samples are being processed at a higher number of cycles than is recommended which affects accuracy. This suggests that over-amplification of DNA could lead to a greater number of false positive test results, which in turn contributes to ramped up government restriction policies.
Vaccine
Prime Minister Trudeau announced last week that a vaccine will likely be rolled out early in 2021.[iv] This CBC article gives brief descriptions of the vaccines that are in the works. Notice, several of these use DNA and RNA to transfer genetic instructions to human cells, making our own cells vaccine factories. This type of vaccine has no history in human use. It is brand new and has been developed in less than one year. Currently, “there are no mRNA‐ and DNA‐based vaccines against any disease authorised to be marketed.”[v]
Gene-based vaccines pose ethical questions for Christians. Is it acceptable for humans to bypass cellular structures God put in place to preserve our cellular integrity? Is it acceptable for humans to interfere with and control the function of manufacturing processes within cells? Considering that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” by the Sovereign of the universe, is it acceptable for our cells to be reprogrammed by faulty humans?
Of course, the safety of whatever vaccines are pressed forward for use will be based on very short-term studies. There will certainly be no data based on years of collection from long-term studies. Will future generations be affected? Scientists don’t know what long-term health risks this kind of vaccine will have, but chronic inflammation, autoimmune conditions and even mutagenic effects have been suggested as possibilities.[vi]
An October poll found that only 39% of Canadians felt a vaccine, when one is available, should be mandatory. If a vaccine is made mandatory, many Canadians will be faced with difficult decisions and governments will have to decide how those who refuse the vaccine will be dealt with.
Sunday Laws
One of the most disturbing trends that has been in the forefront over the last eight months has been the expression of hatred. Violence and threats toward the perceived enemy-of-the-moment has become a regular occurrence. It’s not difficult to see how Adventists will one day be singled out and blamed for calamities.
Norman McNulty’s message, Four Stages of Sunday Law, is worth watching. He urges spiritual preparations that we all need to be making now. I hope you’ll watch it. His presentation begins about 45 minutes in.
